With a legal career spanning over 30 years, Gopal Sreenevasan is a highly respected advocate who has made a significant impact in the field of law across multiple jurisdictions. Gopal’s expertise in complex commercial matters encompasses commercial disputes including company and securities law. He acts in disputed probate actions and trusts. He has also acted in several disputes relating to professional negligence.
Admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1995, he is also a member of the Bars of England and Wales and Singapore, which gives his practice a jurisdictional breadth. Gopal is known to provide comprehensive guidance on matters including commercial transactions, banking, libel, aviation, administrative law, probate, and professional negligence disputes.
Gopal’s experience spans all tiers of Malaysian courts. He is known for his effective cross-examination, which a trial Judge has described as “incisive”. He prides himself on legal scholarship and places a premium on clarity in his oral and written submissions.
Gopal has provided expert evidence before foreign courts, including those in Singapore, the United States of America, and the British Virgin Islands (which was subsequently considered by the Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (Virgin Islands) and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in the United Kingdom).
Outside the courtroom, Gopal hosts the “Advocates The Podcast”, where he engages in interviews with leading courtroom advocates from around the world. This platform allows him to share the experiences of some of the best advocates in the world.
In addition to his legal practice, Gopal is an adjunct professor at Taylor’s University, Malaysia, where he teaches law and shares his experience with aspiring lawyers.
